Nice pic. How big is she??? I caught a few of those when I visited Delaware.

They are one of the meanest snakes I have ever come across. I was bitten by the biggest one I caught and boy was it bloody. I dropped it when it bit me, but figured since I had been bitten I wasn't gonna let him get away.

Hi There,
Thanks for the nice comments. She is about 30-36 inches in length. While it almost killed me to do so, I left her there.

BTW, did the ones you caught in Delaware have that much red coloration? I'm just curious if that is typical for that region.

Oh, one last thing. I know what you mean about the temperment of water snakes, however, this one wasn't all that bad. May have been because it was a rather cool day.

Hey, I caught a northern water snake last week while I was in western NC. I was suprised to see it, being so cold there and all.(I am from East TX) If you want to see a picture of it I can send you one. Just e-mail me at albinonile6@yahoo.com and I'll send ya one. If not, nice catch and happy herping to ya!
Have a great one!
