That looks like great burrowing substrate my flavi/argus loves to dig n burrow but havent perfected her substarte yet, i use organic dirt with a fe inches of sand on the top, its alright but i guess could be better, what do you use?

I use creek bank/riverbank dirt, its as hard as concrete, holds a burrow, like no tomorrow, and holds moisture great, plus some field dirt, with a small percentage of sand added in (10% or less), the dirt I use is high in iron therefore reddish. Check the species for their natural geographic substrate content, most Aussie and African monitors dislike organic material and refuse to dig in it, therefore useless. That crap you buy is recycled tree bark and junk. Dig and strain your own. I almost lost one to organic top soil and its bad features. Use real dirt
