Keywords: Tarantula

Can anyone help? This spider is from Ecuador, South America, unfortunately that's all I know about it . My husband found it crawling across a hangar floor and rescued it. It sure is beautiful, isn't it?! I'd appreciate any comments anyone might have.

Thanks

Offhand, it looks like some kind of pinktoe tarantula (Avicularia sp.). Very nice spiders to keep, somewhat arboreal.

yes it is a (avicularia metallica) aka as the metallic pink toe. Very docile spider that retails from 50 to 100 dollars.

Thanks for the replies! It's nice to have so many informed people on this website.

Just so you know, my husband took a few pics of the spider then let it go.

Very nice looking T you got hold of there, I would have to say it is not a avic. metallica but more likely an avic. juruensis or avic. huriana as it looks to have yellow bands on the legs and I have never seen a metallica with bands like that

I think only Avicularia Walckenaeri has bands like that
