You have sand as a substrate. Would you do it again or is it a pain?

The Sand is not a problem. I have a huge cannister filter which keeps the tank very clean. The only thing I wouldn't recomend is ther real log. Algae grows on that thing like crazy but besides that I have no other problems. The sand is very easy to clean because it is very fine so waste particles don't get trapped below the surface. Hope this helped.

what type of cannister filter do you have? and what is that, a 20 gallon? larger?
