Sick Betta

Please let me know what this is and if and what I can do about it! It started 2 days ago and is getting bigger. He eats and swims normally.

My best guess is some kind of parasite, but I am not sure. It's a good sign that he is eating and swimming normally. How is he know? It's been a while since you posted the pic.

Poor Hammie died about 2 weeks after this happened. Believe it or not, he was constipated! I was chatting with some folks on this site about him and someone suggested that I try to see if I could remove the mass. I touched a pencil eraser to it and it did come off, only to return days later. One morning, he was barely swimming. My husband performed a "barial at sea" in our stream in the backyard. I couldn't do it. It took me several months to be able to bring home another. I hope this one will live as long as Hammie did!
