This picture is scary. It certainly won't do anything to improve the breed's bad reputation. Poor things need to be separated and rehabilitated!

This type of picture of 2 dogs obviously trained to kill does not belong anywhere near a Message Board that is for dogs. This is in very poor taste, and quite frankly think you should question the person who put this on. It certainly is not funny. It is a testament to the stupidity of some people!

It appears to me like the dogs are playing. The paper shredded in the background looks like playing material. As to being trained to kill, I doubt that as neither dog has a mark on them. If they were fighting dogs, they would have multiple scars on their bodies. Dogs often bare their teeth when playing. Don't assume anything. Remember the saying about assuming?

While I do not see evidence of these as "fighting" dogs - no scars, no wounds, none of the fight paraphanalia in place, this is not the ideal photo for representation of the breed in general. These dogs do appear healthy, clean, and uninjured or war torn. While they may indeed merely be playing, the idea of pitts facing each other with such aggressive body langauge on a public board is repugnant and not the most sensible way to show one's pets....

Where I would have to agree that these 2 don't appear to be fight-trained pits, (not only from lack of battle scars, but also they don't have the "fight cropped" ears)and they do look to be healthy and well cared for. Still, this is a very poor way to represent this breed that already has such a tarnished name in the public view.
In my years as a vet asst. I worked with many wonderful pits...yet I've also worked with some who were extremely volatile and dangerous due to the owners ignorance and lack of ability to properly handle and train this breed of dog.
All in all, beautiful dogs, bad choice of photo.

this photo scares me in that it is apparent the two dogs are near contact, but someone took the time to take a picture rather than try to calm the dogs and stop a problem before it could esclate. as for scars, there is a limited view of both dogs body and there could be wounds not visable by photo.

this frame of mind is my objection to this board.

I have been in Veterinary Med for 30 years and this is my favorite breed. I have a 15 weekd old female and this picture is the image I have fought against all this time.

I don't have much knowledge of this breed except for the grip they can have when taken hold of something. The looks of it, the owner(s) just wanted to stir up alot of viewers!! And that's just what happened...picture is in poor taste.

Melody and or Website Administrator. You really need to re-think and question yourself as to Why would you allow such a photo to be posted. It is very obvious a fight is about to commence. Believe me, this is outrageous and not what we as Dog Fanciers want to be posted as Acceptable photos. And Shame on the owner, he does not deserve to own a dog.

I think this is a great pic, just 2 dogs having fun just like any other dogs you see in this world, I think all the bad comments are un called for.

nice dogs

I have a Pharaoh Hound who is as submissive as submissive can be and he often bares his teeth like this when playing with other dogs. If these were really aggressive "fighting dogs", I don't think the person who took the photo would have them in a house environment together. Just my opinion.
