Cork bark is a light, spongy bark that is harvested from an oak, Quercus suber that grows in S. Europe and parts of Africa. It is used commercially for manufacturing corks (for corking wine bottles, wall board, shoe soles, etc.) You can find small amounts at places such as Black Jungle or other terrarium supply houses or can buy it in bulk at thecorkstore.com It comes in flat pieces and various rounds, half-rounds and curls that are interesting to work with.

Your pictures are fascinating I love the terrariums. I dont keep dart frogs but looking at the pics today.
However I did see dart frogs for sale in a market for like less than an American dollar when I was in Panama.
Ofcourse they are wild caught like every single animal sold in those open markets.
It would be nice if all of them wound up in terrariums like yours. I just keep small snakes but looking into frogs but those tiny frogs are hard to feed.

They are actually very easy to feed. The mainstay is D. melanogaster flightless fruit flies, which are also easy to culture. They also feed on springtails, pinhead crickets and small field plankton. But I wouldn't purchase wild-caught frogs, as these are much more delicate to get started, and still have their native toxins. (Captive bred dart frogs have lost their toxins.)

There are three kinds of moss here. There is Java moss on the bottom, which can be purchased at Black Jungle. It grows both in water and on wet land--will also grow up water falls. On top is some sphagnum moss that grew from some dried brown sphagnum-- This stuff sometimes comes "alive," probably from living spores in the dried material. There's also a shorter moss which I've never identified. This often grows on unsterilized cork bark that is kept wet. I've also had small ferns develop on cork bark.

The lighting is double 40 W fluorescent tubes suspended over the tank by chains. The stand for this tank is acutally a Park's double "grow frame" meant for house plants and starting seedlings.
