I got her from a friend who got her in a trade, and doesn't work with Jungles, its from VPI, and only time will tell how she will turn out. she is amazingly mellow, I have had many hatchling carpets before and she is by far the mellowest. Havn't named her yet. He made me such a good deal, cause he just didn't want her, I couldn't refuse, I was sooo shocked, that someone I knew didn't like jungles. But I guess it worked out for me. Thanks

Thanks, I am guessing she is less than a month old, Being a pinkie mouse is a good meal for her. With as bright and clean as she is, I am crossing my fingers she will turn out bright yellow.

I'm not too knowledgeable about the genetics and so forth, but to get optimal yellowness - should it be Hypo, Het, or what? 33%, 50%, 66%, 100%??? I am lost when it comes to this.
(After watching "Fear Factor" yesterday, I am nervous about snake bites. But if Omagrossa can be bitten and live, I guess I can get through it, too.)

Hypos are actually not Jungles, they are coastal carpets, The high yellows are just from selective breeding of nice yellow jungles, To get high yellows, you have to start with high yellow parents and breed the best to the best. I saw fear factor too, I hate it when they use snakes for there shows. I have had tree boas before, their bite can hurt, I was glad that the snakes where not hurt.

So, when purchasing, I want to get a snake that seems to be docile (probably a male) and get a snake whose parents are very, very yellow - that would maximize the likelihood of my snake being a nice, bright color.
I'm a little confused about what you said about the Diamond Carpets...?

I don't remember saying anything about diamond carpets, There are Diamond pythons, which some people breed to jungles, wich makes them a diamond/Carpet cross. I personally think that Diamonds and jungles are WAY prettier when they are pure. Yeah, when getting a baby try and see if you can see pics of the parents, that is the best gauge to see if your baby might turn out spectacular. But you really do get what you pay for, most times the breeders that have the nice Yellow and Black adults charge higher prices, but ITS WORTH IT!! Babies can be jumpy and nervous, but they tame down pretty well. I am so used to being bitten that it doesn't even phase me, and a bite from a baby jungle is Nothing. Just keep handling your baby, and in no time it will be mellow.

Oh, you wrote about Coastals...
I like the Jungles. How can you be sure that the pics of parents are legit?

Thats where a finding a good honest breeder comes in. Top breeders like Repticulus, and VPI, and many others do sometimes charge more, but You really do get what you pay for. Repticulus posts pictures of there breeders on there website, so you can see what kind and quality of jungles he works with. Buying from someone over the net, that doesn't have a name behind him is a risk. And you don't get a good name from scamming and ripping people off. I took a chance on this little girl, only cause she was practicly given to me, and I was told she was from VPI bloodline, But only time will tell if she turns out nice and yellow. Good Luck and hope you find what your looking for.

Thanks for the tips - where is Repticulus on the web?

Ohh..and also, Most Baby Jungles, do not have the bright yellow coloration, Jungles can take up to 2 years for the full yellow coloration to come in. So when looking at babies, just know that they might look plain jane now, but they can turn into screamer yellow jungles by 1-2 years.

If you go to breeders section just scroll down to "R"'s and you should find it. His Name is Will Leary, and he posts quite often in the morelia python forums in here.
