Looks Great so far. I can't wait to see it with all the detail added.

What kind of clay are you using???

I use potters clay. The problem I'm often experiencing when using potters clay is the sculpture must be made nearly hollow in order to kilne fire it. It makes things very tricky!

Yeah, I used pottery clay with all of my first sculptures in my pottery class. And as you said, a lot of them would crack, break, and sometimes shatter to pieces. One way to prevent the breaking is to completely dry the sculpture; It may take a long while and may be difficult if you live in an area with high humidity. I have a few sculptures that are solid and 3-4 inches thick that didn't even crack in the firing process.

Just be sure to dry it well and it should survive. Good luck with it!
