Yes that is a diamond in the rough. I toy with the idea of getting one and when I see one at a reptile show I allways come close.
I find them great looking. I have seen adults that were spectacular but all hot tempered. Thats why I just havent gotten one yet.
I am thinking of a large enclosure with lots of climbing areas for a display which would be perfect for one .
I saw awhile back a picture of a large enclosure that housed a M/F it was all black with lots of high climbing black wooden shelves, etc.
It was breathtaking with the two white ratsnakes hanging on the black wooden dows.

Yeah, i am thinking of getting another one, a male who is well tempered (that wont be easy) and maybe breed them. I dont know if behavior is genetic but its worth a shot. The reason so many people turn these guys down is the fact that they can be pretty mean. It'd be nice to change that.

They have been "mean" for many years it might take many many generations to change that.
My friends were "calm" than at 2 yrs boom they changed. Perhaps this is the way they were made to be for some reason and no changing that.
They do make great display snakes which is what I what them for tho it would be nice to handle them.
I plan to get a pair this summer.
