What type of fish is this?

Keywords: What type of fish is this?

I was hoping someone could help me identify this fish. It was given to me by a friend with his 30 Gal tank, but he didn't know what it was.

It's about 2 in long and in 1 week, has killed 4 Neons, 2 Red Platys and a 3 in Spotted Cat Fish that I introduced before I knew he was aggressive.

I'd like to introduce some fish, but I don't know what would be compatable.

Any advise would be appreceated.

ok this is a male pink convict cichlid. how do i know, i breed them. they are very aggresive fish, they can only be put with other cichlids of the same size, and then will still tey to kill them. they get about 6 in full grown, and the male that u have will devlope a large bump on its forhead as it matures. but they are a very hardy fish and a 30 gallon tank will be plenty big enouf if u wanted to add other cichlids, and they will NOT bother the alege eaters or any other bottom living fish, well mine hasent. just keep them with other cichlids and never add more than one convict in a tank unless u wana breed them, because if they pair up, ur going to have a buch of dead fish. well hope this helps, let me know how it goes.

i have a 3 year old son who keeps asking where "flukie's" friends went... and i'm getting tired of telling him that all drains lead to the ocean.

think i'm going to see if i can find a local aquarium shop to take him off my hands so I can start up a more friendly environment for my kids to watch.
