Strangest herp I ever found under a log

So this evening I went out to flip a coupla logs after last night's rainstorm... turned over a juicy rotten log and found this!

I was so surprised I almost fell over.

I think it's a mockingbird chick...

Probably, when they get 10-12 days old, they leave the nest, so mom can lay more eggs, dad hangs around to feed them till they can fly.
