Here's me with an Eastern King we met while hiking this afternoon at Eno River State Park in NC

If you can see the river on the left side of the image, I had climbed down the bank to get a shot of a brown water snake on a log( but never got close enough).

I climbed back up and this king was in the low weeds on the right side of the image, it was immediately clear what species it was, so I approached it.

It tried to back into the brush slowly, but I waved my camera in it's face to distract it (it did strike at the camera)and get it to stop, and with my other hand grabbed it reasonably near the head- the musk mostly went into the weeds luckily and I grabbed it with my camera hand fairly near the tail so it couldn't sling yucko on me, it calmed down right away, wasn't trying to bite, after a while it got tired of us and started trying to writhe away so we let it go back into the weeds.

Very calm, unaggressive snake as WC go.
