Congrats on your new Ball, cage looks a bit small though how many gallon is it?? Not to tell you how to take care of your snake or anything but you should have two hides for him/her, one hot side, one on the cool side, just so it feels safe and secure.

It's actually a 20 gallon tall and he's 18". Think I should get him a larger enclosure? That was his first day when he was really active and checking things out.
Habitat is much more improved since that photo, I do have a hide on cool side now, have replaced that water bowl with a smaller ceramic one that's in the middle.
Bought an Acu Rite digital thermometer and am regulating his temps with warm side in the low 90's and cool side in low 80's. I think I'm going to have to velcro it to the side of the tank, because he keeps knocking it over when he uses it for leverage to stretch up to the top of the enclosure! LOL

I would agree with reddevil on the size for now, you can prolly get a couple years out of that tank. Nothing bigger than a 30 gallon is needed for an adult ( mines 36" X 16" X 18"), Balls aren't big on a lot of space. Of course buying new cages is a good excuse to get more snakes!!

I like your thinking avtdocz! Maybe then I can get a het! I've got plenty of time to decide. Now I've just got to get this little guy acclimated enough to feed!
