Rosy 07-23-05 Early Morning 1

I found this guy about 30 minutes after dawn near Barrett lake (30 miles East of San Diego). The area got a few minutes of rain the night before, and I hoped that the extra early morning humidity would convince some rosy boas that it was OK to come out and look around. It has been so hot and dry that animals have kept their activity level very low. The plan paid off! I stopped when I saw this rosy stretched accross the one lane rode that is almost never traveled. Before I could find my camera and get out of the car, a US Boarder Patrol truck came around the corner in front of me and I had to wave like a mad man to get him to stop before he ran over the rosy. If I had gotten there 30 seconds later I probalby would have found a dead snake.
