I bought this little guy at a reptile show. It was sold as a greenish rat snake, but I don't think that is what it is. This picture doesn't show it's true color, so I'll post another one tomorrow.

This snake looks like a gray rat snake, not a greenish rat snake. I will look in my snake books to see if I can find a photo of the snake

I think this looks like a baby racer. The rat snakes have a more squared-off head and this snake also has the large eyes of a sight hunter like a racer.

Kingfan...I believe you are right. I have contacted someone else and was told the same thing. He also sent me some pictures of juvenile racers and mine looks EXACTLY like them. Unfortunately, I live in a state that has funny laws. I am required to have an importation permit in order to bring native snakes into my state. Well, racers aren't on my importation permit so I had to contact the seller. He was nice enough to pick the little one up AND return my money! I didn't want to take any chances on getting fined so I had no choice but to give him up. I guess it is better to find out now, than after I was really attached to him! I definitely learned my lesson...only buy from a REPUTABLE and KNOWN breeder!!!

Thanks to all of you who replied. I no longer have this snake, however. My permit did not cover importing racers so I had to get a refund on it.
