Keywords: Identify baby garter subspecies

Got this pretty little girl thinking it was a concinnus (Oregon redspotted), she was sold as a red sided (what I thought might be a parietalis, but the more I look at her she looks like a little infernalis (Cali. redsided). If she is infernalis...I got her for a steal.....$25!!! Makes me wish I had gotten more! Let me know what you think I've got here.
Thanx.....Roy

Since no one has responded to this I'll jump in. I've got both Concinnus and Infernalis in front of me, and that's infernalis you've got there.

Steal is not the word, I just paid $500 for a pair of adults!

Red sides, red spots, valley, and san frans are pretty much the same snake.Start with san frans. You go up a little further up the coast you will find red sides.go a little further you start to find red spots and valley garters. You could have either a red side or red spot.If there is any black on the belly I would say red spot.I have seen red spots with lateral stripes like yours has.

Looks much more like a concinnus to me, with that red head. I've seen thousands of parietalis but never one with that red of a head. T. s. fitchi and concinnus intergrade considerably; you might have what would be considered one of these intergrades. I haven't seen a lot of infernalis myself, but this doesn't look like the photos I've seen. My vote is for concinnus or concinnus x fitchi

Thanx everyone who replied. Yeah, I know the garters of the area are all just subspecies and porbably integrade quite a bit. As far as her markings, Tom, there's no black on her stomach at all....it's all teal blue (doesn't show up worth a [bleep] in the pic, but all that gray is a beautiful light blue/green). Again thanx everyone.
