Iris in March 2004

This is the first photo Iris ever allowed me to take of her, in March 2004.
We rescued her and her litter DEC 27, 2003 with the help of Feral Friends, found homes for the kittens and had Iris spayed. We had intended to return Iris to the place where we found her, but she just sort of stayed. She was an adult feral mother cat, and not just feral, but MEAN. She skulked behind furniture for 3 months, then moved to the place under our bed. Eventually, she got curious about us and started grabbing our ankles, so we called her the Monster under the Bed. Finally, she started allowing me to play with her, using this feather, and I took this photo.
