this is a really fun spider. it can move very quickly though and has quite a deadly bite. this shouldn't be someone's first tarantula. can anyone tell if it's a male or female? i don't see any hooks under the pedipalps... it probably has a 6 inch legspan in this picture
Hey Blake if this is one you are taking about? This and a couple other species in the Poecilotheria are but a few that can be sex with relative certainty by a top view and just so you know this one is not the same as the one in my picture, mine is a striata also know as mysore ornamental yours fasciata aka Sri Lankan ornamental but anyhow looks as you have yourself a nice looking female... The strip called a folio is the telling sign here, on yours T the strip is mostly cream with just a little brown down it a males strip is mostly brown with very little white in it... Greg
