Hah. what a cute looking Hognose. ive read that they are nonvenomous but here they are listed in the venomous section. are there different types that are venomous and nonvenomous?

From what i know which this is my first hognose it is rear fanged and has a mild venom that is usually pretty harmless to humans but has been known to cause swelling and a little rash. But also from what i've learned they it is very rare for an Eastern Hognose to bite except for a feeding error. but he tries to act all intimidating by puffing up like a cobra and hissing and pretends to strike. he has never bitten me even when i first picked him up

lol. my friend had one that would play dead wenever anyone come into the house (he let it roam free in his house) and it was so funny, he would lay there for a few moments very still, then he would lift his head up a little and peek around the room and if he saw anyone he would plop back down as if nothing happened. one of the funniest snakes ive ever encountered.

Awesome. First off, Hoggies (hog-nosed snakes) are venomous, but it is so mild, that is might cause itching, maybe a rash, however, they are less likely to bite than a 7 year old ball python who has always been around people. First, they will fake strike. Then they'll flatten the hood and hiss very loudly, and if that don't work, they may play dead. I have a Western female, but I've never gotten her to play dead, but she did flatten her hood once, and that was awesome (I wish I had a camera around then). They are rear-fanged, so even if one bit you, it is very unlikely that the rear fangs will get to you unless they "chew" your finger. All considered, they are rather harmless snakes to people, but they are awesome.
Nice Eastern. Very pretty. They are not legal where I live (endangered), so, unfortunately, I cannot have one.
