This is my first DIY rack system. And it works better than the commercial racks I've used. It was easy to build, and the temperature is super steady at 84.9ºF day or night. It also keeps a perfect 10ºF temperature gradient. It may not be pretty, but the Cornsnakes absolutely LOVE it! =)

Nice looking rack!

Was just wondering what brand and size those tubs are?

Thanks

Those are Sterilite 32qt boxes (#1756). These are the best sweater boxes on the market IMHO. The quality is great, the price is great, they are readily available in quantity at any Target store, and there is maximum floor space (hardly no tapering). Plus the shoeboxes (#1754) are the same height, so you could use two per level without adjusting the individual shelf heights. I just love these boxes! =)

Was curious as to what type of thermometer thingy is that?? Looks to be what I'm looking for, and where'd yah get it!

It's a dual-probe thermometer with min/max memory for each probe. I use it to simulaneously monitor the cool side and the warm side of the top box. I bought it at Big Apple Herps online. I also purchased a nice little dual-probe thermometer/hygrometer unit of similar design. I love these units. They are relatively cheap, yet greatly indespensible. I don't know what I would do without them. And check out the Big Apple Herp Power Proportional Thermostat while you're at it. I use one on every rack and these things are dead accurate! (That's the thermostat sitting on top.)

Hi,

Really a great rack set up - Was looking for something just like this to build - and I need to look no further - I might build it taller to hold more, but the design itself is great.

What type of heating did you use for your tubs that all connect to one thermostat. This looks awesome!

SerpentDeLis,

Wow! It's been almost 10 years since I built that rack. It was definitely a solid piece of snake furniture. For this particular rack, I used UTH. Specifically, 3" heat tape covered in aluminum foil tape and connected to a Big Apple Herp Power Proportional Thermostat with Night Drop. It's a very good thermostat, and I highly recommend it.
