I'mm looking at your setup and I don't see any water system. How do you keep the humidity up? I'm having a problem with this. Can you email me, lilcyndilue, or post back here. I'd be really greatful.

Hi,
We do have a "water system". We have an automatic misting system, and an irrigation system. Our misting system is the Pro-mist PM-70, with the wide angle nozzles. It cost quite a lot, but was well worth it. Chameleons drink from duration, not a a lot of water over a short period of time. They would rather have less water over a longer time. The pro-mist misting system does this so well. I don't think that you can see it in the pics however. For the irrigation system, I got my shop teacher to cut some 2" pvc pipes in half. We simply (well actually it wasn't that simple!) screwed the pvc pipes into the frame that holds the cages (all the cages are individual) and elevated the bottoms of the backs of the cages so that they lean forward. Then we drilled small holes in the fronts of the cages (before this the bottoms was water tight) so that any water that ends up on the bottoms of the cages ends up in the troughs (pvc pipes). We drilled holes in the bottom of the pvc pipes, so that they drip down into a reservoir, which are cleaned everyday. Now we can leave the misting system on for hours, with no bad consequences. If you are trying to keep humidity up, a misting system is for you. If you only have 2-3 cages or whatever, a regular hand sprayer might be best, and a whole lot cheaper. Plus, if you don't have this many cages, you won't need a misting system of this type. There are cheaper types like the Mr. Moisture misting system. If you are trying to keep the humidity up, keep live plants in (pothos, umbrella, ficus, hibiscus croton are prefered) and mist them frequently. What ever you do, let the cage dry out between mistings, and don't use water falls, or anything similar that will produce bacteria. Hope this helps!!! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of trying something similar to what you are doing. You covered all the basics perfectly. I ordered a Mr. Moisture misting system, I just have to figure out how to do the rest.

Hey,
No problem. The basics I can tell you, but you will have to research and figure a lot of things out on your own. There is a lot of things you don't see on the cages, and that I don't share in the pic. "Secrets" that I have figured out about chams husbandry that I incorporate into the cages. Many other breeders do this as well. You will have to figure out your own. Good luck. Let me know if you start to build it, and I can help you out a little more. :)
