lizardman I have a glass top opening tank which would be very hard to work in so i had to make this on a wooden frame which can easily be inserted and removed from the tank. I stuck polystyrene pretty much anywhere and everywhere over the frame. Then i used spray on foam to fill in the gaps. I put a few coats of tile adhesive over the foam and then sanded it smooth. Then I put on a water-based waterproofing. To finish it off, the guy at the hardware store gave me a non-toxic 'stone look' paint.
