My thinking is that this snake is stuffed! I have heard that Forest Cobras (as with many large Elapids) are very intelligent and can be quite tame. However, it is a stretch to consider a cobra the kind of animal to curl up with and "snuggle". Nice fake.

The more i look at this photo it comes aparent that its a photoshop image. Even a trained perfeshional wouldn't lay like that behind a cobra like that with his hands crossed.. Pluss his eyes are not on the snake what so ever wich as ya'll might know its hard to get this close to these things without keeping a very very close eye on them. And pluss the shadow behind the snake would be going across his arm not on his face like it is in this photo, because of the way that the flar from the camera is pointing.

You can tell the photo is chopped. Look at the shadow of the snake. It is solid.

The photo is real, I looked at it in Photoshop and play around with it... all the shadows line up right.

Als for the flash on the snake, if the neck was straight, then the flash would have to have come from above... but... the snakes' neck is curved in, it gets a little thinner right below it's head. So that lines up. The extreme red-eye says the camera was right at eyelevel with this guy... so that lines up.

So the picture is real... but now there are two options left...

The snake's stuffed...

Or the guy's an idiot...

You decide.

I believe it to be stuffed.
Look at the faded coloring, and it looks a little dehydrated, and that shine looks like laquer.

hmmm, with closer inspection it looks like the photo of this guy was used as a background for the cobra. So i dont think he was with the cobra instead, he probably took 2 different photos. 1. was probably with him laying on the ground, and 2. he used that photo as a background for the cobra n took another photo?

Thanks,
Ben

know cobras have no peripheral vision when they have a hood spread...cant see behind them. this photo has a forced perspective. no fake...I will try upload the photo previous to this one....like the comments.

Also look closer at the shadow on the guy, there is no change from his chin (closer) to his chest (farther).

"know cobras have no peripheral vision when they have a hood spread...cant see behind them." oh really? if you look at the damn photo the eyes are well above the hood. looks to have the same field of vision as pretty much any other snake. dont post up pics that may have an adverse effect on the hobby.

The hoods too small to be a cobra. Too much luster on that snake so it cant be real, thats some nice lighting in the room NOT! the entire back of the photo is black lmao what are you doing holding hot's in the dark.

first off...that snake is no where near 10 feet long. i have not heard of a forest cobra reaching that length. i am sure there may be rare exceptions, but this is not one of them. that is a fake snake to begin with and if this was an attempt to fool anyone, you are very naive. like myself, there are many herpetologists in training or herpetologists themselves that frequent these sites. you can't fool the experts and the experienced son. by the way, i know some may say that certain species can be somewhat tame, but my personal philosophy is this. you cannot tame a snake, no matter how docile they are. if it is a captive bred or not, they are never 100% probable to always behave respectively. (that is with any animal anyway) if that was a real cobra man, you would be lucky to be alive.

Picture would be cool to a child, unfortunately. All other comments aside, and say what you want, the head is all wrong, it's an obvious venomoid. I won't get into ethics, it's not the place, I just personally don't like the way a lot of venomoids look, especially when it changes the shape of the head. If you like your picture, great! However, if you'd have been bitten by that snake, and it was hot, it would have been really bad press for the rest of us. Say whatever you want about size, too, all I can say is that you sound like some of the guys I fish with.....
