Keywords: Thorny Devil

The Australian Thorny Devil (moloch horridus)is one of the most bizzar looking lizards in the world! Their only defense is their covering of sharp thorns. This gravid one was found in the mid-north of South Australia. To survive, they eat thousands of small black ants each day. The one that is shown is in closeup - they only actually grow to about 7" total lenght. Please take the time to look at my other Australian reptile pics and make a comment if you wish - regards, Frilly

Great lizard...I dont think the average person could come up with enough ants to feed one of those anyway..Unless they will take pinhead crickets?

They feed very specifically on a tiny black ant. They would not make it as a captive.

Hello!

About the keeping possibilty.
Does this utilizes other insects like small crickets? If so somebody can experimented with the adding formic acid in any way. Maybe this would work?
