Is this really only 3 years old?? How did you feed this python?

Yes. This was at three. There should be another photo on this site that shows her girth currently (at about 5 1/2 years old). She has NOT been power-fed, but she did convert to rabbits at about 7-feet. I have a USDA approved rabbitry (for human consumption) that raises rabbits specifically for my snakes. She currently eats every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on her mannerisms and typically takes in about 20-30 pounds of rabbits. If anything, she probably could stand to eat more, but I try to control her obesity and she is healthy, has regular and complete sheds and has never been ill, including never having had the typical respiratory infection.

Hey man,
How big of a cage do you have for her?
Thanks

Her cage consists of (2) 4' x 4' enclosures adjoined by an 8' x 30" connecting passageway. She stretches out along the outside perimeter often and this allows her a full 16-foot run of floor space. She has radiant heat panels in one section, under floor heat throughout with heat gradients from 80 - 92 degrees through 4 separate thermostatically controlled zones. Both floor and ambient temps are monitored, as well as hydrometer controlled humidity. There is a fresh air exhaust system integrated to circulate air and full spectrum lighting cycling at 12-On/12-Off. The enclosure has one frontal access and two from above for ease of cleaning and/or access away from the snake. The interior is not fancy and is lined with linoleum in various rock patterns. Her substrate is newspaper, her water simply a spill-proof dog bowl, and the construction is USB and construction lumber with insulation around the sides. The glass panels are actually Lexon Glass (similar to plexi, but better in every respect - in my opinion). The cage is not spectacular, but based on 38-years of experience with herps.

She looks very healthy....
Mines 3 years too and looks just as healthy but she's only 12 feet...
Mine was started on rabits at about 6.5 to 7 feet too.... I can't figure out why she's so small still but I guess I shouldn't be complaining...
Nice albino tho !!!!!

Thank you for your kind comments. It doesn't sound like your girl is running that small. Mine was 13-feet in this picture (I believe), so we're in about the same ball park. I got three good tapings of her this weekend (12-17-05) and she is 16-feet exactly. My rabbit supplier has put me in contact with a hog farmer (8,000+ at a time) who will provide my burm with the other white meat for a buck a pound. He has still-borns, off-grades, and irregulars available pretty much all the time. This hopefully will provide some more adequate feedings and not so many smaller meals for her. This should ease the pressure on (two) rabbitries. My retic will stay on rabbits for awhile, since she is only 14'2", but beginning to feed again.

Thank you for the kind words. Your snake sounds ready to move up. Good luck on finding an affordable source for your rabbits. This is when the hobby jumps up a notch financially.

Keep my link handy in case you have trouble converting your burm to rabbits. Poultry and game birds are a tough transition some times, since it's like moving your snake from candy to vegetables. I have some tips if you need help later.

Thank you very much!!
My burm prefer quails to rats, that's right.
The other snakes I have (Boas and P.curtus) eats everything indistinctly.
