Keywords: Collared lizards hatching

Two have emerged, and the third is half out. After pipping, the snout emerges, then the head, then they seem to sit half in, half out as they detach from the shell. Within a few hours all the membranes used to breathe in the shell are absorbed into the abdomen. At that point they get quite active and feisty, and I put them in the cage where they will live. The entire hatching process seems to take 3 to 6 hours.
