it would take less than a second for that infant to get seriously injured. Things like this is what gives the snake such a bad name.

guys normally i would agree with u but the burm is hardly big enough to do serious harm with a single bite on the body.maybe if the baby was left unattended yes but im sure the person holding the camera wouldn't just go off and leave the baby and the burm there alone.

i agree snake - even pets are wild animals and one bite to the face is all it takes - that's why constrictors over 6 feet in illinois and some other states require a dangerous animal permit

no this looks good for snakes..it shows how sweet and tame they can be..and ya snakes can bite but thats the risk of owning them..but a parent had to be right there to take the pic so if anything happened the parent would be right there to deal with it..ITS A GREAT PIC..

i agree this is a good pic...i have an 11 foot burm that i let my 2 neices hold but i am never more then an arms distance away as i know snakes like every single pet out there are still instinctive no matter how much you hold them

Well...2 points here....First off i was raised around giant snakes and had my picture taken with them since i was about two months old.Never once was i struck, bitten, squeezed,or in any other way hurt, but that dosent mean that it could not have happened it just didnt as my father was ALWAYS around to supervise me...on another point you often see pics of young kids snuggling up with dogs and cats...and noone sees anything wrong with this...dogs kill more children every year than pythons...and it has never been proven that boa constictors have nver killed anyone (at least that im aware of)and as for this pic in particular id be more worried about the kid hurtin the snake...#2,why post a pic like that on here?,you know someone will have something negative to say about it...dont get me wrong,i think its a great pic,i just think its one better kept for your own personal collection.

guys weather or not u agree with this pic is your choice but i injoy this pic and think its great.and in the case of keeping it for your personal collection i think as long as its within the rules for this site put it on.i think this could also help with the rep for snakes to and long as people remember that there is someone holding the camera and the kid is not alone

I know I voice my $.02 earlier, but I'd like to add a another comment - It is nice to see children getting to like the "colder(blooded)" side of animals. Too many people today don't appreciate these lifeforms. Nice python (and kid).

as a long time snake enthusiast myself, with several large and small constrictors, and some young members in my family also, i have one thing to say... does that kid need a diaper change or is it just me?

I agree with the fact dogs are around most children and could do more damage, only thing that you can say about this is the owner should (and probably did) wash the kid after in case the snakes carrying salmonella, i have a python and always wash my hands after holding just incase. Nice photo I have similar with my young relatives :-)

dogs kill at least 60 people a year, their 10 times more dangerous than black bears, which kill only 6. their are way worse things than kids holing snakes. the kid likes it, the burms nice, good pic!
