There are so many discussions about classification of Boa constrictor sub-species especially. Often the differfence can be as little as a ventral scale count. I am not going to debate imperator and constrictor but in reading the Boa constrictor guide by Philippe De Vosjoli, counting dorsal blotches, absolute stunning rate of growth (constrictor constrictor is the largest of the sub species) lightness of skin color, number and frequency of black spots present on the belly i am calling her constrictor constrictor. I could definitly be wrong, plus rampant interbreeding of sub-species in the wild and in captivity can make it even harder to ID any Boa constrictor by a picture let alone when it is in your hand (except for maybe an argentinian or hogg island).
