The Mexican Rosy Boa (Lichanura trivirgata trivirgata) is the nominate form, and it is also known in the hobby as the "Triv" or "Triv triv." It is tan, beige, or khaki in coloration with narrow to wide chocolate brown to black even stripes on a cream to straw yellow background. This subspecies is found throughout most of the state of Baja California Sur (Lower Baja California), and the northwestern portion of Sonora, Mexico and on up into Southwestern Arizona. It is also found on the Pacific Islands of Santa Margrarita, Cedros, and possibly Natividad, as well as the islands of San Marcos and Cerralvo in the Gulf of California. It should also be noted that Bostic once described the specimens found on the islands of Cedros and Natividad as the separate subspecies (Lichanura trivirgata "bostici"), but the proposal was never accepted and is not valid. There are not many people currently breeding the different locals of this subspecies at this time. However, San Ignacio, Magdalena Plains, Constitucion, Loreto, La Paz, and Cabo San Lucas, are just some of the known locals on the peninsula. Ortiz, Guymas, Organ Pipe, and Ajo are some of the more popular mainland locals.
