These are my two frilled dragons. The larger one is new, and the smaller one is in a seperate cage, checking out the new guy.

The aquarium pictured is not a 10 gallon. I would not put a lizard the size of mine in a cage that small. Both frill cages are temporary. We are building something larger with lots of branches and basking areas.

Of course they have UVB, and the humidity stays high, just like all of our herps that require it.

The information we got from the breeder we got this frill from was that they are desert animals. In the year we have had her, we have found out that they are jungle animals. Even breeders can be mistaken. She has been eating better and is more active since we have made a few changes. Thanks for the info about sand. That we didn't know. I have other herps on substrate similar to bed a beast. I will switch them over. How did you keep your frilleds from eating the bedding? Did you feed them in a seperate container? I use vita-sand, so I was not concerned with impaction from the bedding.

I know that working somewhere does not make you an expert. But, I have had access to alot more herps, gotten alot of hands-on experience with alot of animals, and have learned about herps that I had no interest in before (like house geckos). I also have talked to other enthusiasts about their herps, and have gotten useful info and ideas from that kind of interaction. Also, I never said I was an expert, just that I do have some experience keeping reptiles.

Sorry I don't have internet sites to quote from, my husband is the internet wiz, not me.

Thanks for your concern.

What did you feed your frills? One of ours will only eat crickets. We offer pinkie mice, waxworms, earthworms, the occasional mealworm, these really big gross roaches that we got from our vet, canned lizard food, and a variety of fruits and veggies. The younger frill will eat alot of those things, but not the older one (both are under 3 years old). We have read conflicting info about feeding fruits and veggies, so we have tried it...with no success. Our beardies eat a pellet food really well, but the frills won't try that either.

I have driftwood, bark, and branches in most of my habitats that are from the banks of the Missouri River. Most of them are too big for my oven, so I soak them in a weak bleach bath, rinse and soak them in clean water, then let them dry in the sun. If there is even a hint of the smell of bleach, I soak them again. I have used bleached branches in my habitats for about 7 years, and so far I have not had any problems. I also never knew how long to bake them!

Thanks for your info, and any other info about what has worked ...and not worked... for you is greatly appreciated. Also, it is nice to be talked to like a person, not a child.

Thanks!
