I designed and built this enclosure originally for my one male Three Toed Box Turtle and one female Reeves (it had a Plexiglas aquarium insert and the enclosure has a Plexiglas barrier that keeps the turtles, substrate and all fluids completed separated). Now that my Reeves has her own outdoor pond, this will be used for the indoor area, as needed. Eventually, the Box Turtles will live outside - but that will have to wait until we are done with construction on the "new" 100 year old house and landscaping of the garden area. I just got a new female Three-Toed as a companion for my 30 year old male. After her quarantine period is up, the Plexiglas barrier separating this enclosure in half currently will be removed.
The dimensions are 10 ft x 2 ft x 3 ft. I tried designing it so that the cords and such weren't too obvious. It ended up being a coincidence that the stain matches our bedroom furniture. I used sustainably harvested wood, and eco-friendly/non-toxic stains inside and out. The enclosure is 6 years old in this photo.
