Snake Temple (Malaysia)

Description: I wanted to share a picture of me inside one of Penang's snake temples. These were awsome temples designed to worship snakes. The whole building had trees and plants inside along with statues covered with Wagler's Pit Vipers. There is a down fall to this though. The snakes were un healthy and in some kind of sedated state (maybe borderline dead). So this picture was taken in a back room were me and my friend had locals dumping handfuls of wagler's on us! They just poured them on our heads and hands. I knew what they were and was like what the **** are you doing? 30 waglers on my head and shoulders probably isn't to good of an idea regardless how potent the venom is. I went with it though...

I hope people start being more responsible with thier pet reptiles! States are jumping on the band wagon for banning them. Any large reptiles or venomous will soon be banned.

Just so you know there were many more on me this photo was taken a little while later. The snakes are kept on floor racks like the one you can partially see in the bottom right hand corner of the picture.

So, what's the deal with the temples there?? How come the snakes are unhealthy/catatonic/whatever? Are they not fed enough or are they being drugged?

Not sure? They just have a glazed over, lost look. I am not saying they aren't capable of delivering a bite or anything like that but something was different in them that is for sure. I have been around tons of venomous snakes and never seen them look like that except for before they die. Not all of them had the look though. You can look this place up on the internet I found it very easily. It is the snake temple in penang malaysia. Look up snake worship also. There were many snake handlers in the building and the place was filled with the temple vipers (wagler's). Have fun and thanks for not just saying it was STUPID. I put these on here to share. See ya!
