yep, definately a water snake. Northern water snake to be exact.

Thanks for the info.
Last couple of snakes I've caught have been aggressive.
Can't wait to come across another rough green or black rat. They tend to be docile.

i just caught a snake that is the same, ive been researching everything i can to identify the species, i also thought it was a racer, but i know it is a midland watersnake. (not northern)

Caught in North GA. Don't see that snake listed as being found in GA.
Either way he was a good find and is back by the creek doing his thing.

definetly a Nerodia sipedon ssp. probably N. s, sipedon x N. s. pleuralis
