Most of my shots of this animal occur at night. That's about the only time he roams around on land, unless it's raining!

so, from your experience, would you say that trigonatus is more aquatic than palpebrosus? i know my palpebrosus spends the first half of the day in his burrow, then heads for the water till nightime. he raises hell at night then heads for the burrow to sleep it off, lol.

A smooth-front, placed in a new environment, will rarely make itself visible. But you know, all of mine are extremely terrestrial during warm periods and of course, spend all of their time in the water during the winter months. But, a couple of days ago, we had a cold front come through and my smoth-front was on land soaking up any and all sunshine he could find. I've found that all of my animals (long term captives) spend about the same amount of time on land and in the water. During the summer months, they can be found on land during the day and night. But when spooked or when it's cold, they stay hidden underwater.
