Lia: This is a tank for Dendrobates frogs (poison dart frogs. This one has some little thumbnails, D. imitator. The poison dart tanks are usually planted, with drainage, shallow waterways, etc., and are biologically more or less "balanced," so cleaning is confined to wiping off the glass, replacing water occasionally, and trimming plants. We usually feed flightless fruit flies or very small pinhead crickets. The latter don't get a chance to become large enough to be a problem with plants, as the frogs gobble them up quickly. I posted this to illustrate some of the mosses and ferns that will eventually grow "spontaneously" on unsterilized cork bark and pressed coconut fiber backgrounds. A lot of people with other kinds of frogs and herps seem to be trying the live plants and bio-balanced systems with apparently, some success, but they are almost always used with the dart frogs.

Okay thanks. I know those that keep dart frogs take as much pride in their planted terrariums as their frogs .
