Uh, that's not a corn snake. That looks like a mexicana thayeri, ruthveni, or some triangulum.

It is actually a hybrid. I don't know what you call them in America but over here in England they are being sold as `Velvet corns` This one is as far as I know half corn and half kingsnake. I have another hybrid which is 3 quarters corn and 1 quarter kingsnake, she looks much more like a cornsnake and has the cornsnake temprament too.
It was by accident that I first bought a hybrid, as I didn't know as much about snakes then as I do now. The pet shop owner never told me the snake I was purchasing was a hybrid, but I chose the snake because it stood out from the rest.

Hi,
I have noticed a lot of herps coming into the US via England, species we do not commonly get, due to government regulations and CITIES.
I was just curious about the herp laws over there. Are there a lot of illegal imports coming in? We have seen a large crack down in recent months regarding the illegal keeping and shipping of reptiles. I was just wondering if you are noticing the same trend in Europe.
By the way, nice photos.
Thanks,
Jeff

This is funny because when I bought this snake the owner of the pet shop told me that this snake had been imported from America ,a rare new breed or something....I didn't really mind where he came from, I just loved his lovely colours and markings, but I did a bit of detective work and discovered that my snake had been bred local to where I live in Yorkshire. The man who breeds these hybrids told me that he gets a lot of bad remarks about breeding hybrids. Someone even told him he and his snakes should rot in hell or something like that anyway. The snake in this picture though is perhaps the healthiest snake in my collection and has been thriving since I got him. He's quite a bit bigger now. I'm very pleased with him.

Thankyou yellodragon
I got this snake from David Kershaw. He has a website but I don't have the address at the moment. I'll post it when I get it. I just realised that I have not posted any pics of my other hybrid corn/kingsnake. She's really beautiful with lovely unusual markings and also a healthy thriving snake. I'll have to get my camera out I think.

Metroid you are right, we also sometimes call them jungle corns too.
By the way, if you e-mail me, I've got something to show you that you might be interested in.
