Hes 6 yrs old and about 6 1/2 feet. I am not sure why the water comes out so dark in pics. The light over top is not on...who knows. I also got him a girl but she is to small to go in here with him now. I ordered her a pool like this one but smaller, when i get her set up I will post some pics.

The best filters are homemade. If you go on crocodilehaven.com you can get good directions on how to make one. I am currently using one. And it works great. I would get the strongest pump to use, so when you eventually fill your 120gal you dont need to upgrade. My pool is 1000gal and i use a pond pump for 3500gal. The stronger the better.

oh and what turtles can be housed with my little baby

Housing turtles and gators is risky business. I have had my gator housed with turtles since he was a hatchling. You have to use an unagressive water turtle. Because the turtle can nip off toes or tail tips. They need more space so they can get away from one another. You may need 2 basking areas. They both need to well fed, so they dont get hungry for one another. Gators in the wild dont add turtles to the diet for some time, your 15" guy wont get the jaw strength to crush any turtles for a good while. But they can also nip the head and legs. Dont feed your gator any live prey, so he wont associate movement=food. Even with all these tips you still to be prepared to house the turtle in another enclosure if there are any problems.

is your tank an aquarium or a pond? What are you going to use as a heat/uv source? How about the diet?

I personally only like aquariums for hatchlings. They are great for keeping in heat/humidity. But as the gator grows it can become hard for the to turn. If yours is 15" now he will be over 2 feet by the end of the year if fed well.

it is a pond. and i am currently hanging a 160 watt UVB light 18 inches above him is that to close? hes currently feeding on dead pinkie mice and and a little bit of fish but cant find anywhere where they sell crawfish and i will soon start him on mazuri pellets. and this summer im going to make him a outside enclosure and while hes out there i will be in the process of making a new enclosure for him im going to try and copy the winter home you made for pac it is absolutely breath taking how did u build that? oh and only use the ground beef with egg shell, and chicken heart n liver when he gets big around 4 feet?

18" is fine. Do you have a seperate light for heat? The heat will help him digest and will attract him to get under the uv. Put a thermometer under the uv light and see how hot the basking area gets if it gets between 90-100F you wont need a heat light just yet. The diet you are going to have him on is right on. Just keep mixing it up. If you ever need any help/questions email me at cdd77@comcast.net.
