Its so close to my easychair that I use it for a reading lamp. (jk). I'm in North Florida so it is much like south Georgia and gets somewhat cold in the winter. Down to the 30's sometimes. But during the summers, we can put our pets out on the back porch without heat sometimes.

Love the setup. I have a question for you. Is your heat lamb/fixture sitting directly on the acrylic tank. If yes have you had any problems. No damage that type of thing. I am considering getting an acrylic tank but was worried about the heat.

It had a factory made long "slot" cut into it, which was most of the length of the tank and about 5 inches wide. I use that for my flourescent since it must show through without glass/plastic filtration to be effective. But for the bullet lamp, I cut a hole in the top of the tank that has a diameter a few inches greater than the diameter of the lamp. Used a jig saw and it cut easily. The lamp sits on a wire screen over the hole and I guess that the wire mesh disappates the heat enough so it doesn't cause a problem. Interestingly, when you cut the hole, you have to go real slow or the heat from the cutting friction will melt the plastic back together. Had to go around twice. :) FWIW, the tank had a crack in it too, but after the cutting lesson, I applied that knowledge to fix the tank by applying a flame to it to remelt and "weld" the crack.
