Amazing Caiman,
And about the age thing....It's nothing about age. It' how much expierience with reptiles you have, I am only 14 also ( even tho I act and look like I'm 18) but yeah I have been working with rpetiles my whole life and I'm extremely experienced with all kinds. I keep and breed many monitors, large pythons and boas, anacondas, tegus, alligator snapping turtles, crocodilians and venomous snakes so there is nothin wrong with being 14 , Just never jump into a crocodilain they are an extreme amount of work, but if you ahve time, knolegde and money they are a joy to work with.

Good luck

Crocadilians and their kin aren't for anyone who's not already an adult and experienced. Why? Aside from the various permits, they are ~not~ like snakes, or even monitor lizards. Also, what happens when you're ready to move out or go to college? You're not gonna leave your mom with it are you? There's no such thing as an apartment-friendly caiman. And they don't become huggy-friendly-tame, they're not mammals, they're reptiles. Also, they are capable of doing serious injury to people. You have to be able to legally be responsible if your animal injures a person, or property (another's pet for instance) or if it escapes. As a minor you cannot be these things, and yes, it sucks.

you see, now thatsa good reason. I also want a crocodilian but I too am going off to college soon. Mom does want the snakes (i'm not kidding) but wont deal with an alligator. it's true, it does suck about needing all that free time and experience, not to mention money and space, but it's for a person's and animals best interest. If you really want one, why not try working at a local pet shop or something. If you're too young, get to know the owners then volunteer to help out. I had a great time and learned a lot about caring for caimans and alligators. I'd say that's just about your only other option. After all, you can't really get rid sell an animal that will eat the family dog (or kid) too easily. Best to wait until you've got your own home or a really generous person to rent from.

Beautiful animal by the way.
