Unfortunatly the Lion would most likely win. On land the croc would strees and tire fast, and the Lion will take his back and sink in the crocs neck. If you go on youtube and type in croc vs tiger you will see. But at the water edge a lion would be a tasty treat.

your wrong there. i would go into detail to say how the crocodile would beat the lion but ill just post a link
to the story behind that picture,
and you can read what happened for yourself, theres a reason for why the lion backed off!

I never would have thought any big cat to kill a large croc, but seeing is beleiving so again, check out youtube.com and search croc vs tiger, you will see a tiger take a crocs back and sink in the neck for the kill

your absolutely wrong.big cats only kill small crocs. the marsh croc on the youtube video (the one with the tiger)
may look large but its not really. just look at how large the tiger looks to it, if the croc was big the tiger wouldnt look so big. may i also add, i seen a programme where they discussed that footage a man on the programme said the animals in the area had suffered one of the worst droughts in history. i suspect that crocodile wasnt in perfect health. which you can see on the video, it doesnt look to healthy.
ive got plenty of footage of big cats keeping plenty of distance away from crocs, and when they do get close...well, they sure dont stay around the croc for long! on one piece of footage i have, a lion paws a crocs tail...the crocodile was only small really but yet it swung around in full confidence to attack the full grown lioness. the lion got out of the way...fast! as it realized the crocs strength. there is also video's on youtube where crocodiles scare off big cats (no disrespect to the big cats).
there are a few video's on youtube where youve got BIG fully grown cats killing small, often juvenile crocodiles
and then they claim the croc in the video was fully grown....obviously thats ridiculous. ive got plenty of books new and old, on crocs and a regular piece of text is that crocs have NO problem with big cats.
i once heared simon king from the programme big cat diary say,
"a large croc would think nothing of taking a lion in mid swim"
and his favourite animals are big cats! but he had to admit crocodiles are much stronger.
i have to say charles you dont know what your talking about.
and lets face it, anyone can figure out that an animal much much larger,
much much heavier,
and an animal that has a far bigger bite pressure than a big cat...could beat a big cat. simple as that.

we will have to just agree to disagree, but dont say i dont know what i am talking about. Just because a croc pound for pound, is stronger/ heavier and has a far greater bite, does not mean they get to use their advantages all the time. Big cats kill crocs and crocs kill big cats. No one knows 100% of every account to say which is the top predator.

A large 500 pound Lion has little chance against a 1500 pound, 16 foot Nile Crocodile.
This is what
Adam Britton said:
Crocodiles certainly aren't invincible. The smaller the crocodile, the more vulnerable it is. Consider a little baby hatchling only 30 cm (12 inches) long — a nice easy snack for birds, carnivorous mammals, large reptiles, big fish and even large frogs! In fact, scientists estimate that about a quarter of all baby crocodiles die within a year of hatching, and less than 1 in 100 actually survives to 10 years of age. Being eaten by a predator is very common for crocodiles!
With increasing size, however, crocodiles become far less vulnerable to predators. Few animals could tackle a 10-foot crocodile and win, and virtually nothing can hope to escape an encounter with an 18-foot crocodile without losing its head! Larger crocodiles really only need to steer clear of other large crocodiles, humans with firearms and spears, and very angry large herbivores, such as elephants and hippos!
So it's all a matter of perspective. Lions and leopards can sometimes kill smaller crocodiles under 7 feet, but they wouldn't have much chance against a 14 footer weighing nearly half a ton. Crocodiles are fast and their strength is in their explosiveness.
He also said they lose their stamina faster on land than mammals.
In water crocs win 10/10 times.

CORRECT! the croc would kill the Lion. most lions and tigers kill juevenile crocs, or small ones. but never a 16 foot 15 hundred lb croc! u people r all dumb except 4 the ones that think the croc will kill the lion. by the way, ive seen the video on YOutUBe but it really is a small croc. GO CROCS!!!!!! GO CROCS! GO CROCS! GO CROCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will stress a lil on land but not a lot u numb nut!

How can any one say for certain that a croc would win every time its like saying a 300lb guy would always win over a 200lb man in a fight. The fact that the croc is larger gives it a advantage but they work mostly off instinct unlike the lion that has a bigger brain capacity too think about what its going too do next but one wrong move and the lion would be gone, dont forget some humans can captur large crocs with nothing but ther hands and rope so if wee had jaws with teeth like lions some people could get the better of a croc why for the fact that we also have more thought capacity. There is a pride of lions that have figured out how too take down a full grown elephant. Just because some people like crocs more (ME BEING ONE OF THEM) doesn't mean that we have too over look all the possibilities, I think no one can say it for certain who would win so we shouldn't put people down for an opinion that certainly is plausible and the name calling come on lets grow up. The lion would struggle even on land with a crocodile
