Why do 2 of the kitties have chopped-off tails? Is there a cat sadist loose in the neighborhood? What a shame! This is such a gorgeous girl, and the other chop-tail is such a beautiful cat as well.

Esther - I am happy to report that we don't have a cat sadist in the neighborhood. These cats all inherited semi-tails or no tails. It is a wide-spread thing in this area - a lot of tail-less ferals in a half-mile radius. Interesting genetics at work here....

Or was a manx very busy in the vicinity?
This little gal is just gorgeous anyhow. I wonder how the lack of a tail affects her balance, especially in leaping.

Esther, actually she has a stub of a tail about four/five inches long - you just can't see it. However, the other cats range from completely tailess to bob tails. They all seem to be able to function just fine!
