"Sweet Child o' Mine." I know they are usually a bad choice, but he's actually very tame.

Yeah, for right now he's very tame.
Hope you're ready for a pet you watch,
not handle.Try going with pre-kill food,
buy frozen and feed thawed. It may help
to keep him a little docile.

Your reply was almost correct. I have been breeding and raising Niles for almost 5 years, and came up with an amazing discovery! THEY GO FROM MEAN/AGGRESSIVE, TO TAME AND NICE. Anyone who knows anything about monitors knows that they mellow out when they grow, not the opposite.

I had a sav. that did nothing but get
meaner over time. Was that just a fluke?
I work with flavis and crosses now.
Must be making the big bucks breeding niles, huh?

Well, I wouldn't call your Sav a "fluke." Just like people, each reptile has its own personality. But, 95% of the time, they mellow out as they grow. Most Niles, and your Sav just happened to be in that 5%. Niles don't typically get more agressive, they just get bigger, so it seems that way. How often did you handle your Savannah? Yeah, I was making decent money breeding the little turds, but got rid of them all but this one because I am getting ready to deploy to the middle east. I am still breeding my Chacoan Argentine Black and White Tegus though. Those are the BIG money! I usually sell them when they reach a little over a foot in length, and get around $175.00 to $200.00, which isn't a bad deal!

God bless you,and come home alive.
Some photos of my breeding project are
on these pages. The flavi crossses go
usually between 400-700$ Years ago I
had a couple of baby niles that were
calm for the first couple of months
but grew mean after that. I'm gonna post
a pic of my male now. I may even post a
pic of that sav. I used to have. He is beautiful. I love tegus too.(not columbian, they're a terror)And believe
me, I didn't dive into a hobby cold turkey. I've studied and will always
continue to.My prayers are with you
and your family.Jimmy

Thanks man, You don't know how much that means to me. I hear stuff like that all the time, but usually from people I know. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to hear, but when I have the blessing and prayers from someone I've never met, it makes me remember why I joined the Army in the first place. Not for college money, not for world travel, and not to deffend this country. But to defend the people of this country, and the one thing this country stands for: FREEDOM. Any way, yeah, flavs are good to get into. How many eggs are in a typical clutch? The reason I started breeding them was because of their clutch size (30-40 eggs), and I had local pet shops offering me $100.00 for the UN-HATCHED eggs! And no, I would NEVER deal with the columbians! The Columbians are, like you said, an absolute terror! I restricted myself to the Paraguayan and Argentine.
