Keywords: blue phase anole
This gives me a pair of carolina blue phase anoles! Alive and well eating and growing in top conditions for anoles! Looking for input on what to expect in reproduction?
Nice you seem to have some by you. I live in Key West and have seen thousands of green anoles even rare true red phase of the brown anoles yet have only ever seen 2 blue phase of the green anoles.

These were caught in north LA. about 5 miles apart. Probaby last springs hatch! I sold anoles years ago, and out of 10,' of 1,000's these are the first ones I've seen!

They are rare . I have a friend here who had an albino male who he kept with a regular green female.
He got a few albino young over the course of 6 yrs and sold them for pretty penny.
He never saw a blue anole.

Wow, Thanks really cool! I wonder if he bred the albinos to each other? I had this male B.P. first which I was going to bred with the green ones, but now have male and female! Will be bredable next summer!

He got albino babies and not many over course of several yrs but only by breeding albino male to green female.
The breeder who bought his albinos was not able to get albino when he bred albino to albino.
He got sterile eggs.
You could certainly breed your blue male to your blue female and after the mating , house him with green females to spread his sperm.
However your going to have to catch your green anole females before breeding season to make sure they have not been fertilized already.
As you know in the wild you often find them together during breeding season but only because the male and female won't tolerate others of same sex but once they mate for few days , you can than use him as "stud" for green females to see what you get.

Albino vrs. blue phase in reproduction! Basicly to my understanding, 3 genes control color. 1 gene lacking-causes blue phase. 2 genes lacking causes albinos. So just maybe they would reproduce blue to blue, as less genes are involved?

A guy I know who bred White lipped anoles said they retain sperm only one season from spring to summer.
