I saw all your water photos and i have to say that despite the fact the cage is really nice ,it is not big at all. This size cage will be sufficent for maybe a month or two. Do you realize that this monitor will be three or four times bigger than know in a few months!!!!I have four 5 feet whitethroat monitors presently and they are taking whole my basement!!!!(20 feet X 30 feet). Your lizard will much heavier than my ionides so it would be easier for you to look around for a nice big cage...maybe one day i could afford to keep water monitor and I hope you had realized how much it costs to keep large water monitor before you bought it!!!!!!!!One more ,if you ever going to get another water monitor I think PRO EXOTICS is the best place to shop ( check their web side for Summatran Water Monitor pictures - you will understand why they are the best about Sumatrans..)

hey thanks for your advice. the cage he is in right now is only till he gets to big for it. i will up grade cages as needed. this cage is 4 ft. i do not know the growth rate of a sumatran. i have been told they grow slowly. i have not been able to find a good care sheet of them. but im new to these monitors. i have had savannahs and bigger snakes like burms, rocks, and even carpets.i already have ideas on making an big outdoor cage. thanks again.lee

If somebody told you waters' growing rate is slowly he they lie to you - Water monitor's methabolism rate is very high and his nutrition requirements are also really high. Do you know why you could't find any good care sheet about this specie? People usually get rid of waters before they get 6 feet,120 ib!!!! This cute little lizard will grow really,really fast.....you will see.
