Speedy turtle

I need to find out what kind of turtle this is. We found one in our backyard and the kids want to keep. If I can find out wht he is I can figure out the best care for him.

100% sure its a painted...It's either a Eastern or Midland Painted depending on where you live.

This turtle may be a nice pet, but be careful. Many turtles that are found in the wild can carry salmonela. This is one reason why they don't sell those small $1 turtles in petstores, many people became sick, especially small children. They are good pets, just be careful. Good luck with your new pet! :)

Thats my Speedy. He is a painted and I live in Buffalo, Ny. I like him better then my sliders. He has lots of personality.
