You are right there. She is now 10 months old and spoiled rotten. She thinks she has to eat whenever we do, but I have a trick. I give her a bowl of ice and she is content. I will need to post some of her most recent photos.

DO they need a lot of work and space? I take good care of my two cats and my lizards and I really want a little piggy like yours! My mom says they are too big and dirty (she is thinking of a big pig you see at farms) I tell her how cute they are and how they are not really considered livestock anymore, but more like cats.

Ms. Holly is stictly an INDOOR piggy. She has an outside pen that she uses occasionaly on weekends, but after about an hour she squeals and bites at the gate wanting to come in. She should only weigh (according to my vet) about 80 lbs full grown. She is about the size of a medium sized dog and even thinks she is a dog. She uses a litter box (special one we made due to her size), and hasn't caused any trouble in the house. I have plenty of dog toys laying around so she doesn't get bored during the day while I am at work. She has NO odor at all. (Not like a dog when they get wet), and all in all is very easy to care for. They do not get fleas due to their thick skin, so no problems there. Pigs are much smarter then most animals they are listed as the 4th smartest and Holly has proven that to be true. She was easy to litter train and easy to teach tricks to. I have found Pot bellied pigs to be a very good and loving pet. I have even heard of people who live in small apartments keeping them as pets.
Keep in mind that some PBPs get to be 150 -250 lbs, but they are still considered miniture when you compare them to a farm pig which can (and usually do) get to be over 1000 lbs. Most PBBs regardless of there weight still stay pretty small in size when compared to a large dog. They are low to the ground and not very long. I hope this has helped some. Take a look at the picture I have of her out here at 8 months. She isn't much bigger now, just a bit heavier. As for being dirty- she does like to root a bit in the yard, and has rolled in the mud, but a quick run through the hose takes care of that. When she is in the house, she is cleaner than any dog I know (or some cats for that matter). People who come visit me, do not even realize I have a pig in the house, until she comes to say hello to them. I wouldn't want my house to smell like any animal and according to my visitors, there is no smell. We keep her litter box clean by emptying it twice a day. Once during the day and then once again before I go to bed. Their poo has no smell, but the urine does. So as long as the litter box stays dry, there is no smell.

Wow that was interesting information about the PBP's. I see them in a different light now. That's neat. She is a very precious looking pig though!

Thanks. I try to be realistic so folks do not get the wrong impression about PBPs.

I did forget to mention that you should have them spayed or nuetered, this not only helps with the attitude, but with the mess as well. Females just like a dog go into heat and can be aggressive during this time, males, well just like a dog will try to uh..latch onto anything. You get the point, so I do reccommend having either sex fixed.

I do not reccommend breeding, as there are too many of these precious animals in shelters and rescues now.
