From the last post, our gecko hasn't eaten and hasn't defecated in 2 days. He wakes up only when provoked (he sleeps all day and almost all night). Very little mobility. We tried to feed him wax worms, but he wouldn't eat them. Any advice or suggestions? Please help! We love our gecko and would hate to see him suffer.

I don't know about geckos, but my beardie has done the same thing...he slows down in the winter. When ever the temp dips outside, he slows down. He hasn't deficated or ate in 2 days. I am going to give him Mineral Oil tonight and see what happens. (besides that, he is eating a lot less since the weather turned cold). I would find out if you could give him/her Minerl Oil. don't freak until looses weight. Also, post this in the forum...you will get more responses there!

We got him to eat some waxworms last night (today is tuesday). So we feel a little better about it. We were just worried because he's really thin (but also young) and he wasn't eating. Thank you very much for the reply!

What substrate he/she on. If sand try moving it to paper towels. I only use paper towel and have never had problems. It could either be a parasite, or impaction. For impaction, try a luke warm water bath, just let it walk in the water. If it's a parasite, try not disturbing it, and take it to a vet. I would try the bath first, and see if it deficates. G-Luck. I love Albino's so hopefully the little fella pulls through.

First off, ZZ1, I can understand why your beardie would eat less during the temp change. Reptiles have a slow metabolism and the cold would just slow it more. Also, reptiles can go a long time without eating so you don't have to worry until after a week. 2 days is normal... As for the albino leo, I hope your gecko makes a recovery!
