One thing you might want to consider, is that press board is gonna get wet and rot fast. With the water weight and a gator, that pond will drop through the boards causing all sorts of hell.
You could lay a large tarp over the boards and under the pond & substrate to add a barrier to prevent this.
I have to build one for my water monitors and what you got there is a good idea of what mine will be.

you could water proof it with a good sealant too, but I would be concerned with the deck colapsing too. How are you going to heat the water? Is it sitting on a basement floor? That will leach the heat from the pond in the winter, I lost a few baby snakes that were on the bottem levels of my racks when i first moved to god-forsaken-cold Ohio from NC. Just some things my wife threw at me when I begged for a gator.....no i didn't get one, she won..

hi there mate .excellent pic just what ive been looking for..i have been searching for days for enclosure ideas..i live in europe and its so hard to get and ideas here as caiman arent really kept...just one thing..what is leeching?????? and any info in this enclosure or anything else would people email me on braveheart_13142003@yahoo.co.uk im getting my spec caiman pretty soon hes 4ft so any ideas or advice please let me know ..im going to get big pond and build like the pic on here its going on wooden floor boards...should i coat thm with a sealant first????
