These cages have an under tank heater that is recessed in. Also has a digital thermostat for ambient heating that is programmable for 5 different times.
The sides and top and bottom are melamine with the back being a 1/4 in. shower board. The front of the cage is Oak frame on the inside bottom part of the frame I routered out a 1/4 inch and put a 1 1/2 shower board to keep the bottom water tight. I have had no problems with these cage leaking water. The next ones I build will have less top ventilation to keep more humidity in. Right now I have boarded up all but about 1/2 inch on each side.
My BRB have hooked up the same time for the pass two years the only thing I do is turn off the the thermostat and leave the under tank heart on.
I have not had a Snake loose in the house.
